You won't have to say "I think I can, I think I can" with this train, because you won't believe how easy and fun it is to make and decorate!

It's hard to believe but this entire train is made from candy! Tami crafts this adorable train with candy from your grocery store candy aisle - you'll love the way it takes form, and then a choo-choo life of its own!

It makes a delightful holiday display, but don't be surprised if it quickly disappears! (It would make a great project to make with the kids!)

Meet the Decorator...tami

When Tami’s first child was born she wanted to make beautiful birthday cakes for him, like her mother did for her. After taking her first cake decorating course in 1990 she immediately became obsessed with gumpaste and started learning all she could about foreign technique. She started competing in 1991, and has won several Best of Show awards and numerous Best of Division and First Place awards. After a few years she started teaching and demonstrating.

Tami loves to learn all she can and has had classes with Nicholas Lodge, Geraldine Randlesome, Carole Faxon, Debbie Brown, Jan Svenson, Eunice Brochers, Lynne Rigby, Maureen Stevenson, Steve Stellingwerf, Roland and Marsha Winbeckler, and Betty Newman-May, plus many others. She has worked as an assistant for Nicholas Lodge and Colette Peters in their classes. And she has been featured in
American Cake Decorating Magazine several times and had her cakes in the ICES newletters.

Although she specializes in foreign technique cake decorating including Lambeth, gumpaste flowers, flood work, brushed embroidery, and bas relief, Tami thoroughly enjoys all facets of sugar art!

Great For Kids April 6, 2010

Great cake if you have kids.  This video would be great to get the whole family involved with decorating.  Tami uses lots and lots of candies to make the railroad tracks, the engine and making everything from store bought candies. It is Ok, but I don't have any kids at home to enjoy doing something like this...so not one of my favorites.

Nice and quick and the kids will love you March 24, 2010

I made this to go around our Christmas cake which I'd based on a Santa Special train our family had been on together.  The kids don't like traditional Christmas fruit cake but LOVED the chocolate/candy train.  It was really fun to make but I bought way too many chocolate bars and other goodies so it cost me loads!  If I did it again (I'm sure I will) I will have a better idea of what to buy for it.  You probably don't need to follow a video as you can do whatever works but I followed Tammy quite closely just to be sure and it turned out really well.  It was a big hit with everyone.  Really good if your icing skills aren't best too!

Great fun and great gift ideas October 22, 2009

I love this and what fun for all ages.  My grandson and I are already working on the pieces of this train.  He is so excited.  Just looking and gathering all the different candies have been a challenge for us but with Halloween around the corner we are seeing more of what we need and the sizes are more readily available.

Couldn't wait to make it September 15, 2009

When I first saw the Holiday Express candy train, I wanted to make it for my children. The video goes into details on what kind of candies to purchase and how to make each car. I had problems cutting the licorise to make the track so I kept my licorise whole. I used a sugar cone for the tree. My husband wouldn't let anyone touch it-so my train didn't get eaten.
I will try to make another train next Christmas because I thought it was a quick and easy project.

I like home made things June 23, 2009

With the exception of traditional gingerbread houses, I don't like things made from store bought treats.  Sorry.  If you're not like me you'd probably like this video.
